The Shadow of Itself, 2025
Tree trunk, video projection

This work physically places the severed trunk of a tree in the space, while presenting its branches solely as a shadow. The short, cut trunk standing at the center of the space serves as tangible evidence of the tree’s existence, yet it bears no trace of continuity or life. In contrast, the moving shadow of the branches projected onto the wall suggests an absent wholeness and vitality. The appearance of unseen branches in shadow challenges the boundaries of both nature and human perception. While the physical presence of the trunk stands as a concrete remnant of what has been lost, its shadow casts the ghost of a life that once existed or may yet be revived in the future.
