Normalized, 2022
Installation (Lenses, color filters, C-print on paper, wood, stands)

The work invites the viewer to distort the distorted to achieve the presented ideal. I offer magnifying and de-magnifying lenses with color filters to look through, to perceive the partly altered images, to investigate the process of manipulation, and how our perception is constructed. Looking through the filtered lenses into the colored area, the viewer achieves the background gray tone and the grid size. Flag pole stands are used for carrying the filters –referring to ‘the state’ as a symbol of authority, in relation with the concept of normalization, in which an optimal model is constructed to obtain a certain result, and people, movements, and actions would operate to conform to this model.
